As a naturalized citizen, it always puzzles me why people wouldn’t vote. I still remember getting naturalized in Faneuil Hall over 30 years ago like it was yesterday. When I turned 18, I couldn’t wait to vote because that was part of being an American citizen is all about along with selective service. I guess as Thomas Pain said:
“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.”
Always Vote!

Good! Please keep at in the future. My first vote was for Gore (helping him win that popular vote!) I actually wanted McCain, but the GOP didn’t cooperate.

1988 would have been my first presidential ballot too. Born in the middle of November 1966, I would have missed 1984 by a couple of weeks , and it looks like I didn’t miss much. It was M orning in America.™

Congratulations. My son turned 18 in September and this year was his first time voting. He was very excited.

I haven’t seen that quote before, but it rings true to me. It states much more impressively a correlary to the more familiar, “easy come, easy go.”

“
People are dumb and lazy” Fixed it for you. But I totally agree and we continue to get dumber when we dismiss what others are saying because it doesn’t agree with out agenda. H

The funny thing is, when people meet one on one, there’s almost never an immediate dislike, it’s usually cordial, and respectful. It’s when people gather in large groups that the problems start. Herd mentality is a poison.
